Reports are coming in that Sony has closed three of its European offices due to concerns over the coronavirus. Offices in London (UK), Paris (France), and Gdynia (Poland) have been shuttered for the rest of the week as a precautionary measure.
Sony says that none of its employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, but it's still taking action after one member of staff travelled to a region where the virus is a known threat. According to TBI, an internal memo reads: "Out of an abundance of caution, the London, Paris and Gdynia offices will be closed for the remainder of the week, and employees should work from home".
The BBC reports that the affected offices fall under Sony Pictures Entertainment, so at the time of writing, this has little to do with PlayStation. We'll be sure to update this story if we hear more.

I mean, my PS4 backlog is f*cking huge. If they need to delay next-gen altogether, please do. People first. I can hold out for at least another year until I run my current catalogue of games dry.
But still, f*ck this virus.
This Uncharted movie just can't catch a break. As this affects Sony pictures, we can be sure it will delay the film until Tom Holland is old enough to play Sully.
My company is global, in over 120 countries. We’ve restricted all nonessential travel. If needed, we can work remotely through our VPN without compromising productivity. It’s a very viable alternative.
things are starting to get real tough now with how this virus is spreading 😬😳
PS5 is so gonna be delayed, I can feel it.
At least the employees can work from home, so no lost wages. Better safe than sorry.
@DonJorginho I can certainly see the PS5 and Xbox Series X being delayed to March/April next year if this virus hasn’t gone by the end of the year.
@MaccaMUFC
I am fine if it is, keeping people safe matters most and we have plenty of amazing games this year to come still.
A health scare is a very convenient excuse to downsize and fire employees at will. This virus is causing a significant impact on general employees
@markkoo They still have to pay employees who are working from home.
'at the time of writing, this has little to do with PlayStation.'
🤷♂️
Just as long as essentials such as food, water, and electricity are still available we'll live. Seriously though if our power company were to shutdown out of Corona Virus fears it'd be fatal for 100,000's since my city can push 120°F during the Summer...
Gydinia should be a location to play in a JRPG! Cool name
At this rate Sony will just close playstation all together until the virus is done.
